Have you experienced or witnessed an example of collective consciousness?

I have an idea that I personally have started some national style trends. Several times it's happened that years after I adopted an off the wall article of dress when no one else was seen with the same, bingo, it's all a rage.. Now I think it's an example of collective conciousness. Is this what's left of our primitive tribal telepathy?
