What's inside of an oxygen absorber packet? Like the ones in beef jerky bags?

I saved an oxygen absorber packet just in case I could use it for something (don't ask why) but when I Googled "What's inside an oxygen absorber packet" I only got results from companies that were selling them. My first guess is carbon, but I'm not 100%. Can anyone help?
