How do i unfreeze a ipod?

i have tried holding down the play on and nothing happens and i have tried plugging it into itunes and nothing happens i know it will be fine when the battery dies but i'd like it to work now! soo all i got right now is a frozen screen thats got the song (blackout by lupe fiasco by the way) and i was just wondering if there was anything i could do to unfreeze it or to drain the battery quicker
